Orion: A bridge bewteen Traditional Art and Crypto Art

Brief
The thesis investigates the NFT phenomenon through design research methods, examining its impact on human culture and their ethical and cultural implications. At the end, the research proposes a design concept that takes into account the needs of NFT creators and collectors as well as the values of the art community.
Understanding the context
The first step was to build a dialog with NFTs in order to understand their quirks, features, opportunities and constraints. I started the research asking the questions of WHAT, HOW and WHY of NFTs using mainly desk research methods. The NFT application in the Art field brought the Art Community to be split into pieces with different opinions. The reasons behind this break were mainly the ethics behind each purchase, the environmental impact, and the technology accessibility. Many traders make the error of thinking that scarcity and rarity are the two aspects to guide the market when the only important element is the love towards art.

The main idea for this concept was to create a bridge between Crypto Art and Traditional Art through user’s passion. People can enjoy their NFTs and others’ NFTs through curated mobile Crypto Art Exhibitions, and explore the emerging Art languages and masterpieces through an organized archive.

The main idea for this concept was to create a bridge between Crypto Art and Traditional Art through user’s passion. People can enjoy their NFTs and others’ NFTs through curated mobile Crypto Art Exhibitions, and explore the emerging Art languages and masterpieces through an organized archive.

Mobile exhibition layout
After multiple design iterations and user testing sessions with both crypto and traditional audiences, the exhibition layout took its final form. The curator can arrange artworks and content on a customizable digital canvas, while visitors navigate the space through both horizontal and vertical scrolling.
